Friday Creature
Dear Mother and Dear Boyfriend and I went out this morning on a mission-- to finally see the Tennessee Aquarium's recent penguin exhibit featuring Gentoo and Macaroni penguins. Dear Boyfriend hadn't been to the Aquarium at all since about ten years ago, and although he got a fairly rushed tour through the main river building because we wanted to find the penguins, I'm glad he got to see all the exhibits in the complex. I absolutely love the Aquarium, and don't go nearly as often as I should or would like. It's very cleverly put together with how it follows the natural progression of the river systems to the sea. I don't think the new saltwater addition is arranged with quite the same kind of continuity; it seems a little disjointed. Nevertheless, the emphasis on conservation and attention to detail are impressive, and I could stand for hours at just one of the tanks, never mind all the options. Fortunatly or unfortunatly, I usually go with friends, so for their sake I try to curtail my lingering.
I got a few good shots of the Aquarium's residents, and thought it would make for a good first boarding of The Friday Ark, something my mom has been doing over at Ten Thousand Monkies for a lot longer than I think I remember.

More of the penguins after the jump, and have a lovely Friday!

Steve,
While on a recent trip, I began taking many photos of Friday-able creatures, thinking that my mom wasn't with me to take pictures of all the Slovenian, Swiss, and Italian animals, as she was taking pictures of the Spanish dogs she posted today. Over the next few Fridays, I'll be sure to share the Friday creatures she inspired. This Friday though...I just wanted to beat her to the inevitable penguin posts!
