Friday of the Freaky White Deer

Went up to Rock City for the first time since one of those sweetly-awkward early-adolescent dates when I was 13. Last time was around Christmas time, and they were setting up for their City of Lights business while we were there last week. It was a little bizzare enjoying the first bursts of autumn color and then coming around a rock and seeing a family of light-up Christmas gnomes frolicking at you. At any rate, my sad stockpile of Friday Creatures has been saved by the perpetual family of Rock City deer, which are freaky and white, but not albinos as far as I can tell.

Have a good weekend! Here are the other animals!

PS: Now that I keep hearing the word "deer" over and over in my head, I keep hearing it as said by the girlfriend in My Cousin Vinny, with that Brooklyn accenet. "Imagine you were a deeya, a cute littal deeya. You put ya little deeya lips in a little brook...and BAM a hunter shoots off part of ya head!"

I always thought those deer and their pen were pretty depressing, but it turns out that my daughter loves them. She'll spend 30 minutes right there if you let her.
I guess I can't talk because I'm apparently the only adult that really looks forward to the Fairyland Caverns part.

Oh, you love the creepy blacklight part too?! I realized when I was there this most most recent time that I really should have stopped by during that gap from 13 year Old Visit and 21 Year Old Visit because 16 Year Old Trying to be Goth me would have gotten a big kick out of the black light fairyland rave and the giant spooky castle.
